Why We Compete and How You Can Join Us!

Hello Everyone!

Thanks to all who joined us to perform the International West Coast Swing Rally on Saturday! We had 19 people participate this year! Even with the big OSU game and a light drizzle, we performed at 4 different locations around Columbus. We took video and are having a professional cut made to share!

Our next event is one that is near and dear to my heart, Competition Team! So, I know I've told many of you before about how I got started dancing in college, but I'm not sure I've talked as much about how I began competing. I social danced for 3 years at YSU, was one of the most devoted Dance Club members, and thought I was a pretty amazing dancer, I could follow after all!

When I moved to Lafayette Indiana I found out that Purdue University had not only a social group, but also a competitive ballroom dance team! Well I jumped right in thinking that I already knew enough to compete, and I quickly learned that there is more to dancing than being pushed around the floor. I was immediately envious of the depth of knowledge the competitive dancers had, and I couldn't get enough of the understanding of how to become more balanced, expressive, dynamic, and fluid. The level of my dancing climbed to new heights as I learned short routines, had a practice partner, and took a few private lessons now and again!

The team was a supportive atmosphere for growth and showing up to competitions was always the best because we had an entire cheering squad as well as the training to walk into the situation and dominate!

I want to share this team atmosphere, growth, and attention to detail with everyone at The Crystal Ballroom. ‍September 10th at 5:30pmThis is an opportunity to see everyone else who's interested in being in the show, get a sneak peek at the formation dances, be inspired by music for the showcase, get special new details, and set up a meeting to discuss choreography, song, and dance for your very own solo performance! This is an opportunity to have your very own Dancing with the Stars type of experience!! (Special pricing at Casting Day only!)
