WCS Rally FAQ and Upcoming Deadlines

Hello Everyone,

To start out, I'd like to make a correction to our Dance Vision Testing Results, Glenn Hughes received his Student achievement award as a Full Bronze Waltz Leader! 

I'm really excited to be putting together our West Coast Swing Rally starting this Saturday at 4pm!  

Frequently Asked Questions about our WCS Rally:

1. Do I need a partner??

No, every time we've had Rally classes in the past we have a large group of people who rotate partners to learn, by the time we take this out on the town to show off, we'll help you find someone to dance with, but as you learn we find you get better faster and build more community by rotating partners. 

2. If I have a partner can we stay dancing together?

Yes, if you come into the Rally Class with a particular partner that you would like to remain with throughout, this is also not a problem, we want you to enjoy and embrace this opportunity!

3. What if I can't make it every Saturday?

First, once you join the team you will receive a video of the choreography so you can practice on your own,  Second, during the Saturdays we will review and add on each week, so if you miss a week, you'll get the chance to learn it during the review.  Third, you also always have the option to purchase a few private lessons to really hone in your skills and learn the dance more thoroughly.

4. Why would I want to be part of the Rally?

Friends, Community, Confidence, Learning and Growth... We have taught a Rally yearly for a few years, and nothing really brings people together into a community like learning and performing together.  This choreography will help you master some of the steps, get comfortable with the music, become part of our WCS Community, and share dance with the community!

5. Should I come Saturday if I'm not sure I want to participate?

YES! This Saturday (Sept 2nd at 4pm) is an opportunity to get a taste of the routine, and see if you'd like to participate. Come see what the deal is, and enjoy a complimentary class with our WCS Community!

6.  Where did you get the choreography?

Event: SourcePoint Fundraiser - Dancing Through the Decades
Date of Event: Thurs Sept 14th - 5:30pm-8:30pm
Location of Event: SourcePoint in Delaware
Description: Dress up, enjoy appetizers, then Cedric and Mallory will be getting the dancing started through the 50s 60s, 70s, and 80s
Cost: $85 per Person (funds are used to support Delaware County 55 & Older Population)

Event: Byron Saunders - Dancing with our Columbus Stars Fundraiser
Date of Event: Fri Sept 15th - 6pm-10pm
Location of Event: Villa Milano (2 miles from The Crystal Ballroom)
Description: Dinner and a Show. Cedric, Mallory and I have been training our "Local Celebrities" dance routines to perform and raise money for Byron Saunders!
Cost: $100 per Person (funds are used to feed families in Franklin County for Thanksgiving!  $40 feeds a family, so your donation will feed 2 families!)

Event: CASH BASH - Cleveland/Akron West Coast Swing Weekend
Date of Event: Thurs (Thanksgiving) Nov 23rd- Sun Nov 26th
Location of Event: Hilton Garden Inn Twinsburg
Description: 30+ Hours of Social Dancing (WCS, Hustle, Country 2-Step, Night Club 2-Step), Workshops, Competition, plus Sat & Sun Breakfast, Saturday Evening Dress to Impress Dinner Show and spending time at the table with your Columbus WCS Community
Cost: $150 per Person (Gold Pass includes the entire weekend, plus a seat at The Crystal Ballroom Table!)

Dancing with our Columbus Stars is a Charity Event we work closely with each year to help provide food for families at Thanksgiving! $40 Feeds a Family, and we have multiple ways you can help!

4 ways to help feed families this Thanksgiving

1. Food Drive 
From now until November we'll be accepting the following items (or any other food that does not expire until at least December 2023) Before September 10th, each item is a vote for your favorite dance team!

2. Vote/Donate online for your favorite Dance Team
We have 3 Crystal Ballroom Teams this year!

Every $1 is a vote... $40 feeds a family, so I'd like to challenge each and every one of you to feed at least one family this Thanksgiving!!

3. In Studio Fundraiser Dance!!
Mark September 8th from 7pm-8:30pm on your calendar! 

All proceeds from this dance will benefit

the Byron Saunders Foundation!   

$15 Cash or $10 Cash plus Canned Goods!  You choose which Crystal Ballroom team gets the votes!

4. Dancing with Columbus Stars Fundraising Event
This event is at Villa Milano on September 15th, 2023

Reserve your spot at one of our tables now!! The sooner you reserve, the better the table location!!!

We are reserving tables based on who chooses to purchase tickets with us. Your ticket purchase will be split evenly between the 3 Crystal Ballroom teams and you'll get a chance to sit with our group for the event. The deadline for tickets to this event is Sept 7th!!!

Sponsored Table Tickets are $100 (feed 2 families with this donation)

In studio this Friday is our Monthly West Coast Swing Dance featuring Guest Instructor: Eric Byers!!!  Then Saturday is our fantastic Saturday night party at 8pm, preceded by by a Quickstep Class!
